Shanti sits apart from every other brocade design in the collection — not because of its colour, though burnt orange is the only one of its kind in the range, but because of its construction. The pattern is woven onto a sheer ground rather than a solid silk base, which gives the surface a slightly translucent, layered quality: dark bronze and brown paisley and floral scroll forms that seem to float within the fabric rather than sit on top of it. The effect is rich and atmospheric in a way the solid brocades aren't.
Handmade in the UK, each Shanti Bauble is finished with a polished gold gimp braid running along the panel seams, which adds warmth and structure to what is otherwise a moody, almost burnished palette. The burnt orange ground deepens the bronze of the pattern and makes both read more intense — the combination feels autumnal and opulent rather than festive.
At 8cm it's compact and genuinely distinctive — the only warm terracotta tone in the collection, and the only sheer-ground brocade. Works particularly well displayed alongside the deeper jewel-toned designs where the orange provides a grounding warmth. Year-round rather than seasonal.
